About Support About Support Staff members are always available to discuss any concerns, whether they be about daily life, illness/physical conditions, and more. They can also assist with visa renewal procedures, filling out application forms, etc. Educational Support Each student is assigned a faculty advisor to ensure that they will be able to lead meaningful and fulfilling student lives. These easily-accessible advisors will support students by providing advice on academic/career paths, etc. Japanese Language Curriculum From their first year to their third year, students will study Japanese as a compulsory subject in order to improve their general Japanese language ability. Students will also take subjects taught in Japanese for the entirety of their four years at the college, thus learning how to express their thoughts and feelings accurately in Japanese. Click here for details --> International Student Stories Alisa Prasad Prasai (Country of Origin: Nepal) There’s really an environment here for cross-cultural exchange, not just with Japanese students, but amongst the international students as well. I want to work in an IT-related job in the future, and I decided to come to Japan because there are so many world-class IT companies here. I chose Yamanashi Eiwa College not only because they offered a wide range of IT-related courses, but also because their curriculum would allow me to study other fields as well. Before entering the school, I studied at a Japanese language school for a year and a half. At the time, I’d heard from all kinds of people that international students and Japanese students rarely ever become friends, so I was a bit nervous. But at Yamanashi Eiwa College, there are so many opportunities for students to get to know each other through our classes, seminars, and school events. There are a lot of Japanese students who are interested in international exchange, so I was able to make friends with these students. I also feel that getting to know international students from other countries has allowed us to understand each other’s cultures better, and has helped me cultivate a broader perspective on the world. Xinyu Yang (Country of Origin: China) The teachers are very kind and helpful. The college makes you feel very secure about your learning. In my seminar, I’m researching Japanese culture as seen through TV dramas and anime. There are a lot of Japanese students at Yamanashi Eiwa College who are interested in socializing with international students, learning about various cultures, and engaging in international exchange. It’s taught me so much, talking to these students in Japanese, and learning how Japanese is actually spoken - the kind of thing I wouldn’t be able to learn in a textbook. You can also learn a lot from listening to Japanese people talk to and communicate with each other. The teachers are very kind and are always ready to help you with any problem you may have, whether it be in your studies or your personal life, so I feel very comfortable in my daily life. For my senior thesis, I plan to research the differences in the first person point of view between Chinese and Japanese. I’d like to further hone my language skills, deepen my understanding of Japanese culture, and work as a Japanese language instructor in China in the future. Darfa Gielbaran (Country of Origin: Indonesia) I would like to continue my studies in Japan so I can work to eliminate poverty in my home country. My dream is to eliminate the vicious cycle of poverty in Indonesia. I’m studying at Yamanashi Eiwa College to achieve this dream. So far, I’ve taken courses mainly in the domain of Global Studies to further my studies. A course that really left an impression on me was “Basics of Sociology.” Engaging in discussions about a single theme while being exposed to various opinions and values, and developing the flexible mindset and thought processes needed to face up to the complexities of modern society, really helped me grow as a person. The environment at Yamanashi Eiwa College makes it easy to communicate with international students from other countries, Japanese students, and teachers, so my study abroad experience has been very fulfilling. After graduating, I want to go to graduate school to further my studies, so that I can work for JICA in the future. Club Activities Cultural Handbell Club Members perform at school festivals and ceremonies such as graduation and entrance ceremonies, as well as off-campus events. What Kind of Class is “Business Japanese”? This class is designed for students to acquire practical Japanese skills for business conversation, business writing, manners/etiquette, and presentations. Students will learn how to use honorific language and various linguistic expressions, as well as how to use these in real life.
