He also served as the President of Japanese Economic Association (2009-2010). He is a member of the Japan Academy (2010-). He holds a PhD in regional science from the University of Pennsylvania. G. BROWN (Director of Strategy and Research Management, IZA) Bio Dr. Alessio J. G. Brown is Director of Strategy and Research Management at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), an independent research institute and think tank as well as the largest network of economists around the world. Prior to joining IZA he was Executive Director of the Global Economic Symposium (GES) as well as Senior Economist and Head of Research Area "Reforming the Welfare Society" at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. He also worked at Senior Consultant for the World Bank. His main research interests are in the field of labor economics with a strong policy focus especially in the areas of employment incentives and policies, globalization and welfare state reform as well as labor market models and dynamics.Recent works: "An Incentive Theory of Matching" (with Christian Merkl and Dennis J. Close Keynote Speeches "Age Discrimination Laws and Age Discrimination in the United States" David NEUMARK (Professor of Economics, the University of California, Irvine / Research Fellow, IZA) Bio David Neumark (PhD in Economics, Harvard University, 1987) is Chancellor's Professor of Economics at the University of California, Irvine, where he directs the Center for Economics & Public Policy, and is a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Prior to joining the faculty at UCI, Neumark was an Economist at the Federal Reserve Board, an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Professor at Michigan State University. He is also a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research.He edits the IZA Journal of Labor Policy and co-edits the Journal of Urban Economics. JIMENO (Head of the Research Division, the Bank of Spain / Research Fellow, IZA) Presentation [PDF:2.7MB] Bio Juan F Jimeno (PhD in Economics, MIT, 1990) is Head of the Research Division of Banco de España since October 2004. Previously, he was Professor of Economics at Universidad de Alcalá (Madrid), Senior Researcher at FEDEA, and Lecturer at the London School of Economics. He is also a Research Fellow of CEPR and IZA, and eEditor of the IZA Journal of Labor Policy. Currently, he is visiting DG-Research of the ECB under a Duisenberg fellowship. His research focuses on labor markets and macroeconomic issues. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at Osaka University, Institute of Social and Economic Research (2009-2011) and an Associate Professor at Hosei University, Faculty of Economics (2011-2013). She has been a TCER Fellow of the Tokyo Center of Economic Research since 2011. Her research interest includes Public Economics, Labor Economics and Applied Microeconomics.
