Tetsuo Tamura Director, Tokyo Healthcare University Four key phrases in our college song Tokyo Healthcare University opened its doors on April 1, 2005. We immediately created a school song, I had the honor of penning the lyrics. There were four key phrases that I wanted to make sure to incorporate, as they express our school spirit: reverence for life, compassion human connection, and love. The will to cherish and save human life We are a university that trains people to enter the healthcare profession. The most important thing for anyone involved in healthcare is the will to cherish and save human life. Without this drive, all the sophisticated knowledge and advanced technology in the world won’t do people a bit of good. It is out of this reverence for life that compassion is born, and a network of compassionate people is where the human connection comes in. Finally, it takes love to embrace everything that humans do and experience in life with warmth and kindness. Putting knowledge to work for people At Tokyo Healthcare University, people are at the center of everything we do. We are a team that puts people first. The 21st century is said to be a knowledge-driven age, but that knowledge must be put to work for the benefit of society and humankind. Modern medicine is full of extensive knowledge and precision technologies, making it a field that demands exceptional talent with the skills to apply those tools. That is why we incorporate subject-specific clinical training in all of our academic programs with the aim of developing healthcare professionals with outstanding practical ability.
